LISTEN: Wrest – Florida

by Chris

Wrest is a Scottish indie outfit based in Edinburgh, fusing alternative rock and folk with a distinctive Celtic twang, drawing inspiration from the emotive storytelling of Frightened Rabbit, blended with the dynamic energy of Idlewild. The band consists of vocalist and guitarist Stewart Douglas, guitarist Stephen Whipp, bass player Craig Robertson, and drummer Jonny Tait.

Emerging initially as a hobby band, Wrest defied any preconceived notions, having undergone a remarkable evolution and building a solid discography along the way. With two full-length albums under the belt, including the acclaimed ‘Coward of Us All‘ and the eagerly anticipated ‘End All The Days‘, they certainly have proven themselves an established name on the scene.

Adding to their growing repertoire, Wrest has recently unveiled their latest musical endeavor, a digital EP, with an unmistakable autumnal ambiance, titled “Bedtime Rhymes.” This newest addition offers a fresh perspective on Wrest’s evolving sound, signaling a subtle departure from their more driven sound on tracks like “Old Times” and “Florida“. We couldn’t get enough of the latter of the two aforementioned tracks, so here it is.
